Jeffrey Gray Biography

Bass Trombonist Jeffrey Gray joined the Grant Park Orchestra in 2003, and was appointed to the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra in 2000. Mr. Gray earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Bowling Green State University and went on to pursue graduate studies at The Juilliard School. His teachers include Paul Hunt, Dennis Smith, Donald Harwood, Joseph Alessi and Stephen Norrell.

In 2000, Mr. Gray was the winner of two international competitions, the Donald Yaxley Solo Competition and the Lewis Van Haney Competition. He was a guest performer at the 2000 International Trombone Festival in Utrecht, The Netherlands. He has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and was also a member of the National Repertory Orchestra.

Mr. Gray is an active teacher in the Syracuse area. He is on the faculty of Le Moyne College in Syracuse where he is the Instructor of Low Brass and the Brass Choir director. He is also an active teacher in the Jordan-Elbridge School District where he directs the Brass Ensemble and Winter Wind Ensemble.
