WFMT Brings the Festival to You

Listen to select Festival concerts live on 98.7WFMT throughout the summer.

Can’t make it to a Grant Park Music Festival concert this summer? Again this year, many of the Festival's concerts will be broadcast on 98.7WFMT, Chicago’s classical and fine arts radio station. They will also be available online at wfmt.com/streaming.

“We’re delighted to be partnering again with WFMT, bringing the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus to more than 500,000 arts lovers who listen to our programming on the radio and streaming on the Internet,” said Festival President and CEO Paul Winberg.

WFMT Program Director David Polk added, “Once again this summer, WFMT listeners will join the thousands in attendance at the Grant Park Music Festival for 11 concerts from the beautiful Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. This longstanding partnership is one of many that WFMT has forged as part of its mission to connect the rich cultural life of Chicago to the world."

The roster of conductors who will be stepping up to the podium for the live broadcasts include Grant Park Music Festival Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar, Grant Park Music Festival Chorus Director Christopher Bell, along with Marin Alsop, Christoph Knig, Michał Nesterowicz and Thomas Wilkins.

Listeners will have a chance to hear Fabio Bidini, Kirill Gerstein, Stephen Hough, Andrew von Oeyen and Juho Pohjonen on piano; Regina Carter, Rachel Barton Pine and Christian Tetzlaff on violin; the National Youth Choir of Scotland and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. Featured vocalists include sopranos Janai Brugger, Jonita Lattimore, Anisha McFarland, Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi and Elizabeth Norman-Sojourner; tenor Hoss Brock, and bass Daniel Eifert.
