How Grant Park Music Festival memberships work

The Grant Park Music Festival is the hottest ticket in town. Recording breaking crowds attest to the quality and scope of the concerts and this year’s star studded line up promises even more excitement.



  • For all Grant Park Music Festival programs, the front portion of the seating area in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and other venues is held for Festival members (see seating chart below).

  • By joining at one of the seven levels described below, you can receive access to either a general reserved member section or to your own reserved seats in addition to numerous member benefits.

  • 2008 Festival Grant Park Music Festival members will receive a personalized membership card that provides access to seating in your membership section.

  • Membership packages will arrive in the mail in mid-to-late May.

  • Membership donations are 100% tax-deductible.

  • Finally, your membership donation plays an important role in supporting the Grant Park Music Festival’s 74 year tradition of presenting accessible outdoor classical music for all of Chicago!

How the Select Series works: Simply show your pass to ushers or festival staff and sit immediately in either the Orange or Yellow Sections or wait until 10 minutes prior to the start of the concert for seating even closer to the stage.

Wednesday Select Series highlights include:

  • A full-act of a famous 19th century opera

  • The magic of free cinema with the lush sounds of the symphony orchestra in a USA Premiere

  • Two world-class guest violin programs, including Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.

  • Orchestral works by Tchaikovsky and Sibelius.

  • Three programs featuring the Grant Park Chorus.

  • A Take a Friend to the Orchestra night featuring some of the best known classic favorites

Friday Select Series highlights include:

  • A Gala Concert Opera presentation and Great Opera Choruses Week,featuring well known tunes from The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, Turandot, Nabucco and Aida.

Important information for members

  • Grant Park Music Festival Memberships are only valid for Grant Park Music Festival concerts and do not apply to other Millennium Park concerts and events at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.

  • All memberships are subject to availability. Seating capacity is limited in all categories – memberships will be given in the order they are received.

  • One-night Guest Passes permit guests to join you in your seating section and are valid for all concerts with the exception of July 18.

  • All reserved seats are guaranteed. However, 10 minutes prior to the start of a concert, unoccupied reserved seats will be made available for The 8's Series Members. Should season pass holders arrive and find their seats occupied. The 8’s Series Members will be reseated.

  • Seating for all Membership Levels, except for The 8’s Series Members, opens one hour prior to concert start-time.

  • Smoking is prohibited in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion seating area or on the Great Lawn at all times.
