Seating Options for the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park
The Great Lawn

The Great Lawn
The Great Lawn is a wonderful location for anyone to enjoy the Festival. Parents with even the youngest of children find the lawn atmosphere relaxing for themselves and open enough to entertain their little ones. It is also the perfect place to spend an evening with that special someone, or to meditate and get-away from the busyness of life.
Bring a picnic and a blanket and make yourself at home in Chicago’s front yard. Any outside food or drink, including alcohol, is welcome in the Prtizker Pavilion during Grant Park Music Festival concerts. A sophisticated audio system provides quality sound to all the audience, including those seated on the far reaches of the lawn.
Please note that the following are NOT permitted on the Great Lawn:
- Candles, open flames, and/or grills
- Helium-filled balloons
- Smoking
- Animals/pets
- Tents, flags and/or plastic tarps
- Staking into the ground
The Seating Bowl

The Seating Bowl
If you want to be closer to the music or simply want to have a comfortable chair to sit in then the Seating Bowl is the place for you. Located at the front of the Pavilion, the Seating Bowl has wonderful views of the stage and a generous amount of seats for you to choose from. Food and drink, including alcohol, are welcome in the seats but please remember to be considerate of others’ enjoyment when dining during the concert. Coolers and picnic baskets must be stored under your seat and can not block the aisles.
The back-half of the Seating Bowl is free to sit in, but we recommend arriving early since seats can fill up fast. The free seats open 90 minutes before the scheduled concert time. Reserving seats for others is not permitted. Late seating is allowed in the free seats, but please be respectful of other patrons.
Please note that the following are NOT permitted in the Seating Bowl:
- Recording devices, both audio and visual (during performances)
- Balloons, or other visual obstructions (with the exception of umbrellas during inclement weather)
- Lawn chairs
- Smoking
- Candles, open flames, and/or grills
- Flags
Seating Options inside the Harris Theater for Music and Dance
Seating inside the Harris Theater for Festival Members
Festival members receive access
to reserved seating on the main floor of the Harris Theater. Seating
works similar to outside in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, with the
exception that circle level members may sit anywhere within their section
rather than in specific assigned seats.
Free Seating inside the Harris Theater
Available on a first-come, first-seated basis, free seating is held on the balconies and, if available, in the rear of the main floor.
General Information for Concerts inside the Harris Theater
The lobby opens one hour prior to scheduled concert time and the theater opens half an hour prior to scheduled concert time. Patrons may enter from either the upper level lobby (on Randolph Street) or lower level lobby (via the Millennium Park garage elevator).
