APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

To receive a confirmed audition slot, please send a resume and a refundable deposit check for $50, payable to the Grant Park Orchestral Association to:

Audition Coordinator
Grant Park Music Festival
205 East Randolph
Chicago IL 60601

Audition materials must be postmarked no later than Monday April 7, 2008. Your original, uncashed check will be returned to you at the audition. If you must cancel a confirmed time, your check will be destroyed if you notify the Festival office by Monday, April 14, 2008. Audition times will be assigned sequentially in the order the resumes, WITH checks, are received in the Festival office. Do not send cash.

The latest preliminary times will be assigned first, working back to the earliest time. Thus, it is possible that fewer than the specified number of days will be used, depending on the number of audition candidates. If all the available times have been assigned, a waiting list will be started. In addition, please be aware that it may not be possible to accommodate requests for specific audition times. Further instructions, as well as specific information regarding the location of the audition, directions, and lodging will be provided along with the confirmation of your audition time.

The audition committee of the Grant Park Music Festival reserves the right to dismiss immediately any candidate not meeting professional standards at these auditions. Should an advertised position be offered to a current member of the Grant Park Orchestra, the resulting vacancy may be offered to the next most qualified candidate. Preliminary auditions are held behind a screen. All candidates will be required to demonstrate legal eligibility to accept work with the Grant Park Music Festival BEFORE taking the audition. The Festival reserves the right to refuse to audition candidates who are unable to demonstrate legal eligibility to work.

The winning candidates(s) will be expected to start with the 2008 season, which runs from June 10th through August 16th.

The Grant Park Music Festival does not provide any of the music listed. Original, bracketed parts will be available for review at the audition.
Application Deadline is Monday, April 7, 2008.
