2023 Orchestra Auditions
The Grant Park Music Festival announces auditions for the following 2023 vacancies:
Assistant Concertmaster
Section Viola
Section Double Bass
Third Bassoon/Contrabassoon
Second Trumpet
Third/Assistant Principal Trumpet
Principal Keyboards (delayed until Spring 2024)

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
To apply, click on the "Submit Application" button on the vacancies below in order to complete your application and submit your résumé. Once you have submitted your application, please submit a $100 audition deposit, payable by check or money order to Grant Park Music Festival, to the address below. Applications and deposits received after the deadlines indicated below will not be considered. Please note that all correspondence is done via e-mail following the submittal of your application.

Deposits will be returned when candidates arrive at the audition or will be destroyed if candidate withdraws by cancellation deadlines listed below.
Trumpet Applicants: You will be able to note which position(s) you are interested in on your application - you do not need to apply more than once.
2023 SEASON DATES AND PAY
The Festival’s 10-week 2023 season runs June 13 through August 19, 2023. 2022 regular weekly salary was $1,717.93, plus a benefits package. 2023 compensation is subject to negotiations.
AUDITION PROTOCOLS
- The audition committee of the Grant Park Orchestra reserves the right to immediately dismiss any candidate not meeting professional standards.
- Should an advertised position be offered to a current member of the Grant Park Orchestra, the resulting vacancy may be offered to the next most qualified candidate.
- The winning candidate must be legally eligible to accept work with the Grant Park Orchestra at the time of the audition. Candidates who are unable to demonstrate legal eligibility to work will not be allowed to audition.
- Limited audition times are available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates are encouraged to apply early. A wait list may be utilized in the event all audition times are booked. Candidates will only be scheduled after the application and deposit are received.
COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Audition candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to be allowed to audition. Candidates must show proof of vaccination on the day of their audition in order to be allowed to participate. If you would like to request an exemption due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief, you will have the opportunity to request this on your application. Exemption requests may not be granted but the Grant Park Music Festival will attempt to provide a reasonable accommodation that does not create an undue hardship on the Festival.
All audition candidates will be required to wear a mask that covers both nose and mouth for the duration of their time in our facilities, including during the audition. Oboe candidates will be permitted to remove their masks only when they are actively playing.
