Members of the Grant Park Orchestra perform Beethoven's Septet and Rossini's Duo for cello and double bass. Performers include Dayna Hepler, violin; Terri Van Valkiburgh, viola; Walter Haman, cello; Colin Corner, double bass, Dario Brignoli, clarinet; Eric Hall, bassoon; Jonathan Boen, horn.
HAEFLIGER PLAYS WAGNER AND BEETHOVEN
Acclaimed pianist Andreas Haefliger plays the goosebump-inducing Liebestod from Wagner's watershed music drama Tristan und Isolde alongside Beethoven's mighty Hammerklavier Sonata.
SIMONE LAMSMA IN RECITAL
Rising star violinist Simone Lamsma plays the Bach Partita BWV 1004, a riveting suite for solo violin including the famous Chaconne, a piece Joshua Bell called “not just one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, but one of the greatest achievements of any man in history.” Lamsma also performs Huw Watkins' Partita and Eugène Ysaÿe's Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, “Ballade.”
