The Festival continues its commitment to new music with two world premiere commissions this summer. Week-long composer residencies will accompany each of these world premieres.

Commissioned by the Festival to commemorate the Year of Chicago Music, Mischa Zupko’s new work for chorus and orchestra celebrates the city’s legendary music scene with hints of hip-hop, jazz and blues.

Billy Childs

July 17 - 18

Multiple Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and composer Billy Childs presents the world-premiere performances of his Violin Concerto No. 2 featuring Chicago-native Rachel Barton Pine with the Grant Park Orchestra conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya.
