Summer 2020 Virtual Programming

Free. Connected. Inspired. For the summer of 2020, experience this pioneering approach to staging a music festival—by remote.

Radio Series

We’re pleased to announce a 10-week radio series, starting on June 10 (what would have been our opening night). Produced in partnership with our friends at WFMT, we will highlight what sets us apart from other music festivals: our blend of classic repertoire with exceptional composers of our own time; our commitment to hidden gems, international soloists as well as up-and-coming artists; and last but not least, the exceptional Grant Park Orchestra Chorus.

Festival HD

Log in for three video productions based on the “Festival HD” series inaugurated in 2019. This includes violinist Benjamin Beilman performing Prokofiev, our ever popular Independence Day Salute, and Flight of the Bumblebee.

Chamber Series

Chicago’s own violin superstar Rachel Barton Pine headlines a virtual chamber music series. More to be announced.

Virtual Visiting Masters

We invite you to enter into the sacred bond between established musicians and young performers. In Virtual Visiting Masters, you will have a front-row seat when international artists Alban Gerhardt and Andreas Haefliger work with Chicago-area music students. And believe me: you’ll be amazed at how their insights will deepen your own listening experience.

Pre-Concert Lectures

Prior to each live streamed performance, radio celebrity and composer Seth Boustead holds remote pre-concert discussions featuring live interviews with musicians and expert insights into the works and composers to be performed.
