Orchestra Auditions
The Grant Park Music Festival announces auditions for the following 2024 vacancies:
Assistant Concertmaster
Section Violin (two positions)
Section Viola
Assistant Principal Double Bass
Section Double Bass
Bass Trombone
Keyboards
All positions are tenure-track. Click on the vacancies below to learn more about application deadlines, audition dates, and repertoire lists. Only qualified applicants should apply.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
To apply, click on the "Submit Application" button on the vacancies below in order to complete your application and submit your résumé. You will not receive an audition time until your audition deposit of $100.00 is received. The deadline to receive your deposit in our offices is noted below. Deposits received after the deadline will not be processed. Deposits must be made in the form of check or money order payable to Grant Park Music Festival. Please list your name and instrument in the memo section of the check or money order (i.e. Jane Doe Violin Audition) and mail to:

Please also note that limited audition times are available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of deposits. A wait list may be utilized in the event all audition times are booked.
After your deposit is received, we will notify you via e-mail of your assigned audition date and time. You will have until the cancellation deadline listed to cancel taking the audition. Cancellations after this deadline will result in forfeiture of your deposit.
Deposits will be returned when candidates arrive at the audition or will be destroyed if candidate withdraws by cancellation deadlines listed below.
Violin and Double Bass Applicants: You will be able to note which position(s) you are interested in on your application - you do not need to apply more than once.
2024 SEASON DATES AND PAY
The Festival’s 10-week 2024 season runs June 11 through August 17, 2024. 2024 regular weekly salary is $1,822.55, plus benefits.
AUDITION PROTOCOLS
- The audition committee of the Grant Park Orchestra reserves the right to immediately dismiss any candidate not meeting professional standards.
- Should an advertised position be offered to a current member of the Grant Park Orchestra, the resulting vacancy may be offered to the next most qualified candidate.
- The winning candidate must be legally eligible to accept work with the Grant Park Orchestra at the time of the audition. Candidates who are unable to demonstrate legal eligibility to work will not be allowed to audition.
- Limited audition times are available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Candidates are encouraged to apply early. A wait list may be utilized in the event all audition times are booked. Candidates will only be scheduled after the application and deposit are received.
- All audition rounds will be blind.
