Grant Park Orchestra Auditions

IMPORTANT: Due to the rapidly evolving developments around the Coronavirus Disease 19 (COVID-IN), and in consultation with the Chicago Federation of Musicians and the Festival’s Orchestra and Audition Committees, the Grant Park Music Festival has decided to postpone the section bass, principal percussion/assistant principal timpani, and second oboe auditions. We will hold these auditions in 2021. You may check the Festival’s website in January 2021 for new audition dates.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION

The Grant Park Orchestra's 10-week 2020 season is scheduled to begin June 9, 2020 and run through August 15, 2020.  2020 regular weekly salary is $1,619.31, plus a generous benefits package. 

Only highly qualified applicants should apply.

AUDITION POLICIES

  • The audition committee reserves the right to immediately dismiss any candidate not meeting professional standards.
  • Should an advertised position be offered to a current orchestra member, the resulting vacancy may be offered to the next most qualified candidate.
  • The winning candidate must be legally eligible to accept work with the Grant Park Orchestra at the time of the audition. Candidates who are unable to demonstrate legal eligibility to work will not be allowed to audition.
  • Limited audition times are available and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.  Candidates are encouraged to apply early.  A wait list may be utilized in the event all audition times are booked.
