The Grant Park Music Festival is a ten-week classical music concert series held annually in Chicago, Illinois’ Millennium Park.

It features the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus, along with guest performers and conductors, and is one of the only free outdoor classical-music concert series in the US.

Pittsburgh-based cellist Gabriel Hightower attends Carnegie Mellon University Graduate School of Music. He collaborates and performs with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, Wind Ensemble, Contemporary Ensemble, Baroque Ensemble, and is a member of the newly-formed Borok Quartet. Aside from his work, he does outreach with his quartet around the city of Pittsburgh and the greater Allegheny County area.

Gabriel has a strong social media presence, interacting with audience members of all ages and demographics. His 2019 recording of Popper’s Elfentanz​ garnered him critical acclaim from esteemed members of the Omer Quartet, performers from The Juilliard School, and several faculty members at colleges and universities around the globe. His participation in Soulful Symphony’s 2019 Season Announcement at Merriweather Post Pavilion has also allowed him to reach audiences around the country.

Gabriel was granted full scholarship to attend Carnegie Mellon University and pursue his Master’s of Music where he studies with Anne Martindale Williams.

Gabriel was a Grant Park Music Festival String Fellow in 2024.
