The Grant Park Music Festival is a ten-week classical music concert series held annually in Chicago, Illinois’ Millennium Park.

It features the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus, along with guest performers and conductors, and is one of the only free outdoor classical-music concert series in the US.

Violin

Matthew Adams began his violin studies at the age of five in Cincinnati, Ohio. There he studied with Jacquie Fennell and later with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Principal Second Violin Gabriel Pegis. Matthew currently studies at the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance with Professor Aaron Berofsky. He finished his undergraduate studies in 2022, graduating with High Honors. Matthew is pursuing a Master's Degree in Violin Performance under Professor Berofsky’s tutelage.

Matthew served as co-concertmaster of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2017. At the University of Michigan, he served as principal second violin of the University Symphony Orchestra during his senior year. Matthew was the winner of the 2017 Blue-Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra’s concerto competition. He also performed as a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra as the second of two prizewinners that year in their concerto competition. In 2016, Matthew was a semifinalist in the Sphinx Competition, and in 2017 made his solo debut with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in their Young People’s Concerts. Matthew’s instrument was provided by a scholarship grant from the Virtu.
