The Grant Park Music Festival is a ten-week classical music concert series held annually in Chicago, Illinois’ Millennium Park.

It features the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus, along with guest performers and conductors, and is one of the only free outdoor classical-music concert series in the US.

Violin

Scott Jackson is an accomplished violin performer, having competed in numerous competitions and selected as a semi-finalist in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 Sphinx competitions. Meanwhile, he helped create the Price Hill String Quartet which performed regularly in Cincinnati, Ohio with generous support from ArtsWave, the nation’s largest community campaign for the arts.  In 2015, Scott was accepted into a fellowship position with the Grant Park Symphony in Chicago, Illinois, where he performed extensively with both the orchestra as well as a member of the PI String Quartet.  In 2017, Scott received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Cincinnati College of Music and spent the year performing with All of the Above, a 6-person new music ensemble in residence at Xavier University.  Their recorded album, “Double Portrait” was released in 2020 and nominated for best engineered album, featuring new music by composers Edward Smaldone and Douglas Knehans.  Scott joined the New World Symphony in 2018 and occasionally performs with the Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Kansas City Symphonies.   In addition to performance, Scott enjoys teaching and coaching students of all ages, recently joining Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 as a mentor and coach on their tour of Miami and New York.
