yelley taylor is a versatile musician, speaker, and writer from the Bay Area. They are also the founding Artistic Director, violist, and arranger for D-Composed– a Chicago-based ensemble that honors Black history and culture through diverse music genres. As a writer, taylor has contributed essays to the Music by Black Composers series and currently works as a freelance program annotator for orchestras and arts organizations nationwide. Previously, taylor served as the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Project Inclusion Manager, focusing on creating opportunities for emerging musicians and administrators from historically marginalized communities in the classical music field. They hold degrees in Violin Performance and Africana Studies from Oberlin Conservatory, complemented by a Master’s in Violin Performance from Northwestern University.
