Program Notes

2020 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of music’s great revolutionaries: Ludwig van Beethoven. Kicking off a week-long celebration, the Orchestra performs Beethoven's watershed Eroica Symphony, an exhilarating monument of the Romantic age. Hear Eroica alongside one of Chicago’s own musical luminaries, violin virtuoso Rachel Barton Pine in the world-premiere performances of the Violin Concerto No. 2 by jazz pianist and composer Billy Childs.

This concert is being broadcast and streamed live on 98.7WFMT/wfmt.com.
