A native of Chicago's Calumet Heights neighborhood, Common first ascended the charts in the 1990s as a hip-hop artist but later transitioned to a successful acting career. He's won three GRAMMY awards, an Oscar, a Primetime Emmy, and a Golden Globe.

Although this is a free concert, reservations are required to enter the Jay Pritzker Pavilion for this event.

This concert is a joint production of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and the Grant Park Music Festival, part of a four-day 20th-Anniversary Celebration of the opening of Millennium Park.

Festival members can now reserve a premium seat for $100. Non-members can reserve a premium seat for $125 starting May 1.
