Marketing and Public Relations Director

The Grant Park Orchestral Association in Chicago, Illinois is seeking a Marketing and Public Relations Director to plan and administer all marketing, communications, public relations, sales, and audience development activities on behalf of the Grant Park Music Festival.

As part of the Association’s management team, the marketing and public relations director is responsible for planning, supervising, administering and evaluating programs that meet or exceed attendance and membership revenue goals for orchestral and choral events and maximizing the visibility of the Festival consistent with Association policies and long-range objectives. As such, the marketing and public relations director will plan and manage all marketing activities including but not limited to public relations (press, program books, newsletters, etc.); advertising (print, electronic, and media); season membership acquisition and renewal campaigns (direct mail, telemarketing); all single-night sales; audience research; new membership activities; and merchandising for the Association.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The Grant Park Orchestral Association seeks a highly organized individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to implement, organize and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines. A minimum of three years’ experience in marketing, communications, or public relations. Relevant experience in a performing arts not-for-profit environment preferred. Previous supervisory experience, sales skills, and a strong knowledge of music and current marketing trends and issues preferred. Strong data analysis/database experience and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.

COMPENSATION
$59,000 to $67,000 commensurate with experience, including three weeks vacation, sick and holiday benefits, comprehensive health and dental plus a 403(b) pension plan.

Volunteer Opportunities

Festival Volunteers

Festival Volunteers welcome and assist patrons at Information Areas throughout the park during concerts and Open Rehearsals by distributing program books, answering patrons’ questions and helping with front of house set-up and clean-up. Festival Volunteers are also invited to assist with projects in the administrative office and at other special events.

Docents

Docents are volunteers who commit to studying detailed aspects of the Festival, Millennium Park and classical music. Docents are invited to a series of pre-season learning opportunities and assist with giving lectures at Open Rehearsals and other events during the summer. Prospective Docents must go through an application and interview process to join the program.
